Hard Mineral Aggregate

The grip particle is white aluminium oxide, a synthetic mineral at around Mohs 9 with an angular shape. Angular particles key into the wet coating and sit proud of the cured film, while the hardness resists wearing smooth under traffic. The texture stays in the floor rather than polishing out.

Host Coating Bond

The additive is a single-component dry aggregate with no hardener and nothing to activate. The host coating binds the particles into the floor surface as it cures. Traffic readiness therefore follows the cure of the host coating, not the additive.

Wet Coat Broadcast

Broadcast the aggregate evenly over the final coat while it is still wet. Back-roll to distribute the particles and embed them in the surface. This keeps more aluminium oxide at the surface and gives the deeper profile; stirring it into the coating instead gives a lighter, more even texture.

Coarse Grade Profile

The coarse grade uses larger angular particles that stand further proud of the cured film. The result is a pronounced texture that feet and tyres bite into. That deeper profile holds more dirt than a smooth floor, so choose Coarse where traction matters more than ease of cleaning, and Safety Grip Fine where a subtler finish is wanted.

Performance Profile

Coarse White Aluminium Oxide Aggregate. A dry mineral additive for coloured floor paints and coatings. Broadcast it onto the wet final coat and back-roll, or mix it into the coating before application. The angular particles stand proud of the film and leave a textured surface with grip underfoot on interior and exterior concrete.

Product Details

Description

EverFlor Safety Grip Coarse is a coarse anti-slip additive for floor paint and floor coatings. It is a graded white aluminium oxide aggregate. Added to the final coat, it turns a smooth painted floor into a textured surface with pronounced grip underfoot.

The particles are angular and coarse. They protrude through the coating film and form a physical surface profile that feet and tyres bite into. Aluminium oxide is a hard synthetic mineral, so the edges resist rounding off under foot and wheeled traffic. The texture stays in the floor rather than wearing smooth.

Safety Grip Coarse is the heavier-duty grade in the Safety Grip range. Safety Grip Fine gives a subtler texture that is easier to clean. Choose Coarse where traction matters more than a smooth, easily cleaned finish. The aggregate is white and suits coloured, opaque floor paints. For clear coatings and sealers, use EverFlor Easy Grip instead.

Apply it in one of two ways. Broadcasting onto the wet final coat and back-rolling keeps more aggregate at the surface and gives the deeper profile. Mixing it into the coating before application gives a lighter, more even texture.

Recommended areas of use

  • Industrial floors and production areas
  • Factories and workshops
  • Warehouses and forklift-trafficked floors
  • Garages
  • Loading areas
  • Ramps, steps and access areas
  • Plant rooms
  • Commercial floors
  • Interior and exterior painted concrete floors
  • Areas exposed to water where a more aggressive texture is wanted

Features

  • Coarse grade: larger angular particles give a more pronounced texture than the Fine grade.
  • Mohs 9 aluminium oxide: the hardness resists abrasion, so the profile holds under traffic instead of polishing smooth.
  • Two application methods: broadcast and back-roll for the deeper profile, or mix in for convenience.
  • Interior and exterior use: suits painted concrete floors indoors and outside.
  • Forklift ready: the mineral holds up to wheeled traffic on industrial floors.
  • Two pack sizes: 375g and 1.5kg, to match small and larger coating volumes.

Good to know

  • The aggregate is white. Particles may stay visible, especially in darker colours or thinner coatings.
  • Use it with coloured, opaque coatings. For clear coatings and sealers, use EverFlor Easy Grip.
  • A coarse texture holds more dirt than a smooth floor. Plan for scrubbing with a stiff brush or scrubber-dryer.
  • When mixed in, the aggregate settles. Stir before and during application.
  • On two-pack coatings, mix base and hardener fully before adding the aggregate.
  • Dose at the rate printed on the pack label.
  • Shelf life is 24 months. Store sealed and dry.
Application

SURFACE PREPARATION

Prepare the concrete to the requirements of the floor coating you are using. Safety Grip Coarse adds texture only. It does not replace the coating's own preparation, primer or coat build.

Use it with coloured, opaque floor paints. For clear coatings and sealers, use EverFlor Easy Grip.

METHOD 1 – BROADCAST AND BACK-ROLL (PREFERRED)

Apply the coating system to its instructions up to the final coat. Apply the final coat in sections you can treat while wet.

Broadcast Safety Grip Coarse evenly over the wet coating. Keep the broadcast rate consistent across the whole floor.

Back-roll the wet coating to distribute the aggregate and partly embed it. This method keeps more aggregate at the surface and gives the deeper anti-slip profile.

METHOD 2 – MIX INTO THE COATING

Mix the paint or coating fully. On two-pack coatings, mix base and hardener together completely before adding anything.

Add Safety Grip Coarse at the label dosage. Mix until the aggregate is evenly dispersed.

Apply by brush or roller as normal. Stir regularly during application. The mineral aggregate settles if left to stand.

DOSAGE AND FINISHING

Dose at the rate printed on the pack label. Safety Grip Coarse comes in 375g and 1.5kg packs to suit smaller and larger coating volumes.

The aggregate is white and may show through darker or thinner coatings. Lay a small test area first to check the texture and appearance.

FAQs

Please read our FAQs page to find out more.

What is the difference between Safety Grip Coarse and Safety Grip Fine?
Both are white aluminium oxide additives for coloured floor coatings. Coarse uses larger angular particles and gives a much more pronounced texture with more grip underfoot. Fine gives a subtler texture that is easier to clean. Choose Coarse for industrial, commercial and external areas where traction matters more than a smooth, easily cleaned finish.
Should I broadcast it or mix it into the paint?
Broadcast it where you want the deeper anti-slip profile. Apply the final coat, scatter Safety Grip Coarse evenly over the wet coating, then back-roll to embed it. This keeps more aggregate at the surface. Mixing it into the coating is the alternative: it is quicker but gives a lighter texture, and you must stir regularly because the aggregate settles.
How much do I need, and can I use it with two-pack coatings?
Dose at the rate printed on the pack label. It comes in 375g and 1.5kg packs to suit different coating volumes. It works with two-pack coatings: mix the base and hardener fully first, then add the aggregate and mix until evenly dispersed.
Can I use it in a clear sealer or a dark floor paint?
Safety Grip Coarse is white and suits coloured, opaque floor coatings. In a clear sealer the particles would show, so use EverFlor Easy Grip for clear coatings instead. In darker colours or thinner coatings the white particles may remain visible. Lay a small test area first to check the appearance.
Is a coarse anti-slip floor harder to keep clean?
Yes. The raised texture that gives grip also holds more dirt than a smooth painted floor. Clean with a stiff brush, deck scrubber or scrubber-dryer rather than a flat mop. Where easy cleaning matters more than heavy grip, Safety Grip Fine is the better choice.
